Button and LEDs
The device has one button and three LEDs. Everything you can do at the meter, without a browser, is done with that button; the LEDs tell you what happened.
Button functions
| Function | Operation | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| Read meter | Single click | Triggers an immediate meter readout |
| Activate Wi-Fi | Press and hold for 3 s | Joins the configured Wi-Fi network, or starts the Access Point |
| Zigbee reset | Click 3 times | Leaves the current Zigbee network and enters joining mode |
| Factory reset | Hold while powering up, for 5 s | Restores all settings to factory defaults |
TIP
When the device is asleep, the first click only wakes it up — on battery power ZiggyMeter sleeps between readings. Use four clicks for a Zigbee reset in that case; the extra click is harmless when the device is already awake.
LED indicators
Each LED covers one part of the device:
- Red — Wi-Fi
- Blue — Zigbee
- Green — meter communication
Across all three, the patterns mean the same thing: breathing is "connecting", continuous is "connected", and three quick blinks is "failed".
| LED | Pattern | Visual | Meaning |
|---|---|---|---|
| All 3 | 1 quick blink | Boot up | |
| All 3 | 1 second on | Factory reset performed | |
| Green | breathing | Establishing the meter connection | |
| Green | continuous | Meter connected / readout active | |
| Green | 3 quick blinks | Meter connection error | |
| Red | breathing | Connecting to Wi-Fi | |
| Red | continuous | Wi-Fi connected | |
| Red | 3 quick blinks | Wi-Fi connection error | |
| Red | long-on pulse | Wi-Fi Access Point mode | |
| Blue | breathing | Connecting to Zigbee | |
| Blue | continuous | Zigbee joined | |
| Blue | 3 quick blinks | Zigbee connection error | |
| Blue | slow blinking | Zigbee pairing mode |
INFO
On battery power the LEDs are off while the device sleeps. A dark device is not necessarily a dead one — click the button to wake it.
Read the meter now
Useful during installation and whenever you want to confirm the optical link.
- Button — one short click.
- Web interface — Meter → Readings → READ METER.
- API —
GET /api/v1/iec62056/read. - Zigbee — toggle the On/Off switch on endpoint 2.
The green LED lights continuously while the device talks to the meter.
Activate Wi-Fi
Press and hold the button for 3 seconds.
- On a new device or after a factory reset, Wi-Fi is already active in Access Point mode — no press needed.
- Once network credentials are stored, activation makes the device join your network as a client.
Whether Wi-Fi comes up on its own or has to be activated by hand depends on the power source and power-saving mode. See Power and batteries.
Zigbee reset
Click 3 times (4 if asleep). The device leaves its current Zigbee network and enters joining mode, which the blue LED shows as slow blinking. Full procedure: Zigbee setup → Join a network.
Factory reset
A factory reset restores factory defaults and is the way back in if you forget the administrator password. It clears Wi-Fi credentials, removes Zigbee pairing and resets the web password. Firmware is not affected — the device keeps the version it is running.
WARNING
All existing connections are broken and the device becomes reachable only through its own Access Point again.
With the button:
- Power the device off.
- Press and hold the button.
- Power it on while still holding.
- Keep holding for 5 seconds, then release.
All three LEDs light for one second to confirm.
From the web interface: System → Device reset →
FACTORY RESET.From the API:POST /api/v1/system/factory_reset.
After the reset the device behaves exactly as it did out of the box — continue from Get started.
