Home Assistant is an open‑source home automation platform that runs locally, integrates thousands of devices and services, and lets you build dashboards and automations to control your smart home.

ZiggyMeter integrates with Home Assistant in two ways:

• Native integration: communicates directly over HTTPS using the Home Assistant's REST API to create native sensors. This path offers simple setup and fast updates without requiring a Zigbee network.
• Zigbee integration: exposes Zigbee clusters (Metering 0x0702 and Electrical Measurement 0x0B04) so ZiggyMeter can join your Zigbee mesh and report energy and electrical measurements via your coordinator.

Choose the approach that best fits your environment: use Native when you have reliable WiFi connectivity, are powered from the mains, and want straightforward configuration; use Zigbee when you prefer battery‑friendly mesh networking or already standardize on Zigbee for device management.
