Connection configuration

Select a connection method

Choose the method that matches your environment.

Wi‑Fi

Best when you want a direct IP connection (web UI and API access) and your meter location has stable Wi‑Fi coverage.

Typical setup options:

  • Connect to your existing Wi‑Fi (recommended): ZiggyMeter joins your router.
  • Access Point (AP) mode: ZiggyMeter creates its own temporary Wi‑Fi network so you can open the built‑in web interface without existing network infrastructure.

When to pick Wi‑Fi:

  • You can get a stable signal at the meter cabinet.
  • You prefer a straightforward network setup and easy troubleshooting.

Zigbee

Best for low-power and longer-range installations, especially when the device runs on batteries.

When to pick Zigbee:

  • You already use Zigbee in a smart-home setup.
  • You want mesh networking and generally lower power consumption.

What you’ll need:

  • A Zigbee coordinator (for example, part of a smart home hub or a Zigbee USB adapter).
